The ‘In Courage’ Newsletter — “Career Choices and Consequences: How to Find Your Future Focus”
It is the glory of God to conceal a matter,
But the glory of kings is to search out a matter.
Career Choices and Consequences: How to Find Your Future Focus. Learn basic decision models designed to simplify the complex choice of “now what?”

Hey, before I say anything, maybe you’re one of these folks:
A.) – You know exactly where you fit in the scheme of things, and you just need some networking and job-hunting skills. Tonight, you will get a chance to fine tune those descriptions and the way you communicate who you are to potential hiring managers.
B.) – You are wondering why “focus” is important in this context. Tonight, you will get a treat! Wait until you see how correctly tightening your focus will actually broaden your opportunities!
C.) – You were hit a little harder by this last separation than you thought you would be. Maybe, you are even shaken, and are wondering what you should be doing. In the middle of the day, your thoughts may go like this:
a. Can I even continue to *do* what it is I have been doing in the work world?
b. Have I been on the wrong track?
c. Is it just me?
d. Is there anything I *can* be good at?
e. What will I do?
f. Which direction should I go? And how will I know that is the right direction?
g. If I choose a new direction, what if I guess *wrong*?
h. Oh God, help me! What do I do now?
If this is you…
There is good news.
#1: I can guarantee you that, whatever the trial, it will go better *with* God than trying to do it *without* God. And I mean lots, lots, LOTS better.
#2: You were also designed to know the answer to these questions. The keys to those answers are in you, and around you, and even in some of the people around you.
This week is all about that discovery, and learning how to make that discovery for yourself.
It is frightening beyond words to wonder if there is a place for you, and to feel that, somehow, you are a mistake, an anomaly in the human race, and someone who does not, and will not, ever, fit in. You have hung on desperately to the hope that you would find a place to really belong, and as your fingers slip from the ledge of that hope, you are paralyzed by the fear that your worst imaginations may actually be true.
(For those of you who cannot imagine how someone could *possibly* feel this way, this is your chance to be merciful and understanding and, as a direct result, wise. I can assure you, absolutely, that this state of mind is quite real.)
But there is enormous good news…
First, know this: That hole for belonging is only ever completely filled in a daily walk with God, and ultimately and eternally satisfied in Heaven.
God designed us well, so well that His workmanship has survived The Fall, has survived thousands of years of history, and even also all the dopey things we do to ourselves.
What is *our* place in this discover process? First, from the Proverb at the top of this letter: A “king” (or a “queen”) is someone with sovereign power. When this proverb was written, many people really had little or no power over their own lives. To be “sovereign” means, among other things,
(1.) the power to make decisions,
(2.) the prerogative to make life choices,
(3.) and hopefully the good common sense to let God’s wisdom be their tutor and guide.
You were built and designed for this discovery and these choices.
In fact, you were designed by God Himself to be like Kings and Queens, and search out what God has for you. His Design is so great that, even if you do not yet know Him, He has left to you the tools to,

Next Week: “Two Minute / Two Pages Resumes: How to Package Yourself”
This is an AWESOME presentation!
Yes, you’ll get the best possible instruction on resumes, “Part 1”, that is. And, yes, you’ll learn how to really do a GREAT 2-minute presentation. But, as you do this, you’ll learn to, (and this sounds easy, but it’s not)
1. Think about who you are,
2. Talk about who you are, and
3. Find the best possible work for who you are.

That’s it for this week. And may the God of hope fill you with hope!
All the best,
