The ‘In Courage’ Newsletter — “Communication Connection: How to Write Right”
Proverbs 18:16 A man’s gift makes room for him, And brings him before great men. New American Standard Bible (NASB)
One way to make sure that your gift brings you before the really great bosses (and really great clients and customers) is to learn how to present it correctly. Using sloppy communications is like delivering an engagement ring in a greasy lunch sack.
Here’s another way to think about it. People in some company are working themselves ragged because they need help. They don’t need just anyone’s help; they need someone who is a really good fit. If your written communications are clear and well-written, that helps them to find that person. And, somewhere in the back of their mind, they will also know that, if they hire you, you’ll try just as hard to make things clear for them as you are doing right now in your career search — and you are therefore more likely to be hired.
Next Week: “Inter-Galactic Invitational Resume Skeet Shoot”
All I can say is, you really, really, really, really, really don’t what to miss this.
While it’s true that you have to decide exactly how you do your resume, the feedback you get from the team at your table — during this exercise — will fuel and inform your decisions about how to do, what to do, and everything else on your resume.
This is like expert car detailing for your resume.
Hint of the week:
If you are sending out a LinkedIn invitation, never just send out the stock request. The receiver of your invitation may not associate your picture with *you*! Always include something about where you last met, and what you discussed. If you can’t remember anything about them, then wait until you can, and then invite them.
That’s it for this week. May the God of hope fill you with hope.
All the best,
