The ‘In Courage’ Newsletter: “Interviewing Tactics: How to Promote Yourself”
Promoting Ourselves? Isn’t that a lot like “bragging”?
(And, if so, where did “bragging” become a godly thing?)
But, being truly honest really is a godly thing.
And, if you have gifts and talents to bring, and you mumble your way through an interview, and you leave there without possible-future-boss knowing what you could bring???
Well, now, THAT’S dishonest — and “dishonest” is not a very godly thing, either.
If you were trying to get help from someone, and they did the whole false modesty thing, you wouldn’t like it. You’d want that someone to tell you all about how they thought they could help you, and then you could at least weigh them against their competition.
Then, it’s especially cool because you don’t always have to be the absolute best. If possible-future-boss finds you easier to communicate with — or something else important, then you can be picked over someone with even more raw talent than you!
This is one of the most amazing things about interviewing for a job!
If you want to hear about the steps to preparing for an interview, Jan is not only an amazing person to talk to, but she is also this week’s speaker. Bring something to write on, because you will receive the secret to that that Beauty-Contest-Judges-eye-view of the interview, highs-and-lows, goods-and-bads, pinnacles-and-pitfalls.

Next Week: “¬Classy Answers to Classical Questions: What Do You Say?”
Learn how to anticipate what the interviewer is going to ask and why. Discover how to answer difficult questions to more effectively sell yourself as the solution.
A quick note on this. We learn to anticipate these questions for the same reason that we learn to anticipate what will happen at an intersection.
We want to arrive at our destination in one piece.
We’ll help you get up to speed on that.
That’s it for this week. And may the God of hope fill you with hope!
All the best,
