The ‘In Courage’ Newsletter — “Search Management: How to Make the Most of Your Time”
Scripture says, “Be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time” (Eph. 5:15ab). Learn to include both pro-active and re-active job search techniques to attack the public and hidden job markets.
Maybe part of you says something like this, “I am out of work, so there’s nothing to manage, is there?”
But the bare facts are that a good and successful job search may have more going on than most of our actual jobs when we had them.
Motivationally, you really have a challenge. I know that, for me, it was hard not having work, and the mental, emotional, and even spiritual battles were overwhelming. You can’t afford to give up of slack off. But, let’s face it, sometimes you want to, don’t you?
You’re not used to being unemployed, and you’re not much good at it. Cold calls, Warm, Interviews, or follow-ups, Informational Interviews? You never learned to do this!
At the time when we need to marshal all our strength, we, instead, may let ourselves go, no exercise, not enough sleep, too much food, too much TV. Then we get depressed and wonder how THAT happened?
• How do we redeem the time?
• How can you get the most out of your week?
• How do you put together the best possible 40 hours per week of job-seeking?
Well, no matter how well you think you are doing, I think you’ll get something out of,
“Search Management: How to Make the Most of Your Time”.

Next Week: “Networking Strategies: How to Net Work from Your Network”
Network-building relationships can yield the highest return on your investment of time! Learn how to market yourself by applying the Nine Nifty Nuances.
I am an engineer — y’know, the M&M profession: Hard dull shell on the outside, and major chocolate on the inside (at least, I hope so…). But college gave me no specific training on networking, and I had no natural ability for it either.
Hopeless? Not at all!
I consider Networking so important, that it may be the key to all of the other disciplines that we present at Career Transition Workshop.
Networking made ALL the difference to this engineer! And how could it not?
We are dealing with people; even Dilbert is a people.

That’s it for this week. And may the God of hope fill you with hope!
